An exquisitely detailed reproduction of a 1739 Paris map. Featuring some of the most impressive cartography for the period, this map by Etiene Turgot is perhaps one of the most decorative and celebrated maps ever made. Every street and building of the pre-Hausmann era is shown without sacrificing even the most minute details. Not a window, chimney-piece or turret has been omitted. A truly remarkable technical achievement that pre-dates the first manned balloon flight and the invention of photography.
The project was a massive feat of cartography that took over five years to complete. Here we present Turgot's Plan de Paris masterfully reproduced on giclee printed fabric in three individual panels. UV resistant durable waterproof fabric prevents fading over time. Each panel is mounted with French finished cherry wood slats at the top and bottom for easy hanging. Mounting hardware included. The finished product is a museum quality giclee print suitable for display in the most prestigious of art galleries.
