Shrimp Boat Model

There are all kinds of model ships out there. There are naval battle ships, historical cruise ships and even pirate ships.

There are racing boats and all kinds of sail boats in many different shapes and sizes. All of these different models can add a unique atmosphere to your home based on what they represent.

Cruise ships can remind you of your travels, pirate ships can add a dash of adventurousness to your decor and historical ships can add some inspiration.

But what if you want something a bit more creative that still inspires?

Well, Hollywood may have the inspiration you’re after.

Gilligan’s Island

Gilligan’s Island was a classic American television series that depicted the adventures of a group of passengers who were shipwrecked on a deserted island for a number of years. There is an eclectic collection of characters that cover a number of personalities.

There’s a skipper, a millionaire and a movie star–just to name a few.

There are plenty of ways to incorporate this into your theme depending on how much of a fanatic you are. The ship itself will add an interesting element on its own but you could take it much further by adding some relevant pictures. This could also be a great addition to a beach theme, with sand and seashells.

Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump is an inspirational film about a mentally challenged but extremely athletic young man who managed to experience many of America’s most inspiring moments.

One of the highlights of the film was a fishing boat named Jenny, which was named after the woman he loved.

So here we have an entirely different direction. Forrest Gump is a very inspirational movie, not only because of the struggles of the main character, but also for all of the historical events covered. This will inspire anyone who is familiar with the film and give you a much more creative nautical theme.

There are also plenty of ways to go about making this a larger part of your theme.

There is film related art work to help pull this off, but you could also go with a fishing theme by adding a fish replica to the wall. You could even capture the historical element by adding bits and pieces of historical memorabilia that was in the film.

These are just two examples of how Hollywood can offer some nautical inspiration. Whatever sea focused films you love can be used to design a nautical theme that inspires but also stands out from the crowd.
