The Hampton Nautical 60-inch Diameter Wooden Ship's Wheel is made from a rare high quality wood, Shisham, and is by far the highest quality ship wheels available. The 60” ship wheel has eight spokes. The spokes are skillfully turned and the wheels are assembled with plugged screw heads. The brass center hubs have a standard one-inch (25.4 mm) diameter hole and machined key ways. The wheel's thickness is 1 3/4 inch (4.4 cm) and the wheel weighs 12 pounds.

Shisham is very similar to the Teak that we all know to be an extremely hard warring hardwood that will sustain the elements. In addition the center of the wheel is solid brass.
