Untitled document This Cunard line ocean liner, named RMS Aquitania, was constructed by the John Brown and Company shipyard located at Clydebank, Scotland. The ship first set sail on April 21st 1913 and sailed to New York on April 30th 1914. This was number three in Cunard Line’s “Grand Trio”. His collection of express liners. Third ship built after the RMS Mauretania and the RMS Lusitania. Aquitania was the longest surviving ocean liner out of all of them. She earned the name of “Ship Beautiful” because of the beauty of the structure of the ship
Aquitania has served in both world wars, assisting soldiers in any way possible. During the 36 years of this ship’s life, it has switched from passenger and war service multiple times. Aquitania holds the record for the longest service career of any 20th century express liner until 2004. At that time the Queen Elizabeth 2, which served for 40 years, obtained the record.
